ACF editor MARK HOLMES casts an eye over the evergreen Delkim buzzer. In his words: “The best in the business.” Sometimes when you replace your fishing kit you look to change things. After all, a change is as good as a rest. However, I am notoriously stubborn when it comes to changing to something that I believe isn't as good or better than what I am currently using. This is the main reason why, until some thief nicked them, my trusty Amorphous rods were used for over 10 years. I simply didn't have a desire to change them. Likewise, a Delkim buzzer has been my chosen indicator for over 25 years. Having said all of that, the latest Delkim TX-I Plus alarm is quite simply outstanding. The most important part of my buzzer is that hidden extra – reliability. In our inactive world of fishing for big carp, the chance of a carp bite occurring can be infrequent at the best of times. At present, I am trying to catch a very, very large carp. Bites are at a premium so, as I sit there waiting, I need to know in an instant what is going on. As my chosen water has a low-stock density I sometimes fish for liners. This forgotten art means that I need a buzzer that I can adjust accordingly. I have very little time to fish and I am restricted to a couple of overnighters a week, so I need my sleep. Therefore, the sensitivity setting on the Delkims mean I can adjust my buzzers to give only positive bites while I am sleeping. TX-I Plus Delkims are complemented by the RX Plus Pro 6 LED receiver/sounder box, which allows me to fish how I like – quietly. The receiver has an independent volume control that allows me to turn the sound off on the buzzers and just use the audio on the receiver. Although I only fish three rods, the receiver has six LEDs. How anyone can fish six rods is beyond me. The list of facilities on the receiver is incredible: 200m range, vibration alert, very long life battery and anti-theft alarm, to name but a few. Throw in a two-year guarantee and you can see why, although not the cheapest in town, they are the best. Review by Mark Holmes from Advanced Carp Fishing.
