Product Overview

  • Arma-Point hooks have been in concept and testing for more than two years. The result… possibly the greatest advancement in custom carp hook design for more than a decade!
  • Exclusive cutting edge technology has resulted in a range of hooks with a number of advantages including a new hi-tech tempering process. This has radically increased strength and hardness resulting in exceptionally strong hooks with an incredibly sharp, genuinely longer lasting point. Combined with a non reflective, non-rust Teflon® coating, this produces a hook with unrivalled durability and sharpness! In fact during the lengthy field testing process, one angler was able to use the same hook for more than 35 captures!

SSBP

  • The SSBP is a fantastic hook for particle fishing or as a pop-up pattern for boilie fishing. The classic combination of short shank, wide gape and a gently curved point produces solid, reliable hook holds and makes it ideal for use over gravel.

Overall Rating
There are dozens of hook types, makes and patterns out there, but Marc Coulson rates some more highly than others. What's more, he reckons these Fox versions are among the very best… I first tried the original patterns of Arma-Points some two years ago when then-Fox employees Adam Penning and Max Cottis showed me the SSC and LS patterns that they had recently developed. Since then I have tried each of the six Teflon-coated patterns, each with a different purpose in mind. To say I am smitten is an understatement. There are some excellent hooks being turned out by a couple of well-known brands at the moment, but these Arma-Points are right up there in terms of quality, design and, importantly, sharpness. I did an exercise where I opened three packs of six different manufacturers' hooks and tested the sharpness of every hook in each packet. Some disappointed but the Fox and JRC hooks were sharp in the extreme, right down to the very last hook. The six patterns in the Arma-Point range are SSBP (short shanked, beaked point), LS (long shank), SSSP (short shank, straight point), LSC (long shank, curved), SR (stiff rig) and my favourite SSC (short, swept shank). If I were only allowed one pattern of hook then the SSC would surely be it. It's versatile and adaptable and gives excellent hook-holds on all manner of rigs. I've used some patterns of Arma-Point more than others because there are simply some that I rarely employ. Regular readers will also know that I have a bit of a problem with the LSC-type hook as well, but that particular story is for another day. To single out one pattern that is not to my liking would be to detract from what is an excellent and impressive range of hooks. Not many carp anglers immediately identify Fox with hooks and terminal tackle, but in not doing so they are missing out big time. Review by Total Carp Fishing.
