Product Overview

The Hybrid Longshank X is designed for ultra riggy fish on pressured waters. The long straight point will catch hold in the mouth faster than any other hook. The 20-degree in-turned eye helps it to flip over in the carp’s mouth and catch hold. The hook is strong for its weight and will suit almost all carping situations. It suits open water situations where sharpness is paramount and where the angler requires a certain finesse in his presentation. A firm favourite of carp-catching machine, Ian Russell.

Jon Bones explains why a packet of Korda Longshank hooks will always be among his terminal tackle. There isn't a single hook pattern on the market that suits everyone. Selecting one for your rigs is a personal decision and will vary from one angler to the next. I've been a fan of long-shank hooks for as long as I care to remember and I've worked my way through a number of patterns from various manufacturers. A little over two years ago I gave the Korda Longshank hooks a try, having liberated a pack from a work colleague's tackle box. Ever since, a pack of Korda Longshanks has been a permanent resident of my tackle box. There was talk of the earliest samples snapping and generally not being up to the job. However, the earliest pattern was upgraded to a slightly thicker-gauged wire, which is what is on the market today. Despite the supposed early problems, I can honestly say that I've never had a problem with a Korda Longshank hook. Rather than listen to rumours and other peoples' experiences I'm one for rating a product on my own merits and these have definitely passed the test. From catching smaller carp on commercial waters right through to low thirties on larger gravel pits, the Longshanks have proved their worth time and time again. If you need a slightly stronger hook for hit-and-hold fishing near snags or heavy weed then there is the Longshank X pattern. This is the same as the Langshank, but features a thicker, stronger-gauged wire. That said, unless I'm fishing in really demanding situations I rarely feel the need to change from the standard Longshanks. Along with the Teflon coating, the hook points are fantastic. Not only are they ultra-sharp but they don't blunt easily either. Therefore there's usually no need to change your hook after each fish, saving time, effort and money.
