I have a 40" chest and may wear a lightweight down jacket under this coat, so which size would you advise so that the coat is not tight, but also not too loose. Large or x large ?

Hi Eddie I recommend the x-large, but this would be a guess as you are planning to wear another jacket underneath. You are always welcome to return the item if it is too large or small. Regards Tackleuk
