Product Overview

A reel series from Penn featuring a unique IPX5 rating which prevents saltwater from entering the gearbox or drag system. Built to cope with everything the sea can throw at you. Manufactured with a full metal body and sideplate keeping the CNC gearing system aligned perfectly, even under heavy pressure. The bullet proof drag system is fitted with Tronix carbon fibre washers that wont let you down and keep you in control.

i'm particularly keen to purchase the 6500 reel in this series which fulfils all my requirements. and i'm also keen to use the daiwa x4 braid 0.29mm 41lb. b/s line on it. is this another case of putting 20lb mono as backing line on the reel and then adding 270m of the above line on top? sincerely, robert.

i'm given to understand that the 6500 live liner can handle large, hard fighting fish so i'm a little confused that you'd want to attach only 15lb. line to it. plus if i were to use JX4 braid 0.29mm 41lb b/s which reel in this series would best accomodate 270m of this line?

Hi Robert, This is just an example of the how much line would fit on the reel, you can use any size line you wish, you would just to work out the sizing from the example. For example, if you were to use a 30lb line on the 6500 sized reel, it would have 172.50-yard capacity. Hope this helps. Kind regards Tackleuk

can you tell me which reel in this series would best take 270m of 0.29mm braid b/s 41lb? i understand that the 6500 can handle large hard fighting fish so i'm reluctant to go above this size. thank you.

the bail arm does not return automatically this is the first time i have used the reel is this normal if not can it be fixed
