The second generation of Penn's Squall Level Wind series feature a number of upgrades on the best selling original. Featuring a 3+1 shielded stainless steel ball bearing system and their HT-100™ carbon fibre drag system, entirely surrounded by a lightweight graphite frame and side plates. Also now coming with PENN's® proprietary Fast Gear Access Side plate, that makes maintaining your reel a lot easier.

when fishing from a boat can this reel be used with braided line? i'm thinking in particular of Spiderware Stealth Smooth 8 at 52lb. and 300m.

is this reel suitable for both boat and shore fishing?

Hi Robert, In general you can get away with using a level wind reel for both. The problem when casting from shore is the level wind mechanism adds extra drag. So your overall distances are greatly reduced. Regards TackleUK'
