Product Overview

An incredibly versatile rod from the Drennan specialist range, designed to tackle a multitude of venues and species on both still and running water. Coming with two top sections, a traditional Avon style for float fishing, and a quiver section with a choice of either a 2oz glass or 3oz carbon tip. A rod that's a joy to use, with a pleasing casting and fish playing action. Manufactured from a high modulus carbon fibre blank, and fitted with high quality SiC rings and a secure DPS reel seat. 

Available in a wide selection of lengths and test curves. The 1.25lb editions are great all rounders, supporting reel lines from 4 to 8lb. They're ideal for bream tench and chub without being to over gunned. While the heavier 1.5lb test curve recommends reel line's of between 6 to 10lb and is ideal for turbulent water conditions in winter and makes a great surface stalking rod in the summer. There's also an ultra lightweight 1lb option if your looking to fish with ultra light lines.

Can the rod be used for carp fishing

Hi Jedd, I have the 1.25lb 11ft and if your tackling smaller carp say up to 10lb then its fine. Anything bigger than that and it gets a bit scary. The 1.5lb obviously has a bit more backbone but if your going to a dedicated carp fishery I would recommend a dedicated carp rod. Regards TackleUK

I am really torn between the 12' 1lb test curve or the 12' 1.25lb test curve. I mainly want a rod that I can fish on rivers with a bit of extra flow catching roach, bream or chub. I am worried that the 1lb test curve may not have enough back bone or that the 1.25lb may be over egging it? Any help much appreciated. All the best. Tom

Hi Tom, As you are targeting smaller species the 1lb should be suitable, but if you are looking to throw heavier feeders, then maybe the 1.5lb would be more suitable. Kind regards Tackleuk

Hello, Sorry to trouble you but I have just got back into fishing after 30 years, and all my kit is regarded as antiquated. My idea with this rod is that I could use the quiver tips when going after bream, tench and even small carp of say 5-10lb, then switch to the normal rod tip (if I went for the 1.5lb test version) and use a bite alarm for larger carp 10-15lb. Does that seem plausible? Also the Korum allrounder has the final eye with an option to screw in a swing tip, does the drennan rod?

Hello. Could you recommend some reels to consider matching with the 12ft 1.25lb, intended for light ledgering and/ or the lift method for tench? Thanks, Alan.

Hi Alan, Something from 3000-4000 size would be ideal. I've got one of these and I've paired mine with a 3000 sized reel. I've also gone with a baitrunner style which tends to be slightly heavier than your average front drag fixed spool. Drennan themselves do some options worth considering.
