Hello, I have bought the agility 2 14ft continental beach rod 4-8 oz and concerned that the rod says 30lb max line? I would always cast at least a 60lb shock leader on to braid with this but wondering if I should be using 60lb braid all the way through? Can find any info on this so any help would be massively appreciated. Thank you James

Hi James, I have actually snapped 3 beach rods in my time using a high poundage braid straight through. The problem is if you frap up the braid wont snap like mono it will break your rod, baring in mind these where also 4-8ox casting weight rods. I have now found the best way to use a continental style rod it will a low breaking strain braid or mono 14-18lbs usually. In conjunction with a tapered shock leader 15-60lbs on the tapper then you have no issu
