Hi Gerry, Without setting one up and doing the test ourselves'we would just be guessing. The casting weights for the two tip options should give you a rough idea of the sort of loads they can handle. Regards TackleUK

What reel would suit this rod? And is it still very strong with all the sections?

Hi Tyron, Modern multi section rods have improved in leaps and bounds and are just as strong as a 2 or 3 sectioned rod. As far as reels go, if your looking to stick with Shimano, something like a 4500-5000 size would be ideal.
